Our house is three storey brick-built showing the scars of a much-loved family. Built in 1896, it has four bedrooms (one of which will be filled with our clothes and items of furniture that we don't yet have the courage to throw away) and also a sewing room, while on the ground floor there are two living rooms and a study, plus a well-equipped kitchen, (washer, drier, dish-washer, micro-wave, gas hob, elect oven, fridge freezer etc) with a sunny dining area. There are three bathrooms, one of which is en-suite. The house is centrally heated by gas, recently overhauled.
There is a front garden with overgrown roses and scruffy lawn. The back garden is 150 feet long, overlooked by a wooden deck for outdoor eating which leads out of the sitting room and kitchen. Lawn, trees, roses and, hopefully, patio plants.
We have many CDs (early jazz and classical), TV, video recorder with video-plus for foolproof recording, lots of books. A Windows95 pc with free Internet connection is offered as part of the exchange (we take our Windows98 laptop with us on our travels).
We have no pets.
Our car is a reliable but very small Nissan Micra (4-seater, 2-door
automatic), useful in the crowded conditions of our traffic but you may be
happier in something bigger for long journeys. The car has a parking permit
valid for our street. And there is also off-street parking in the driveway.
