What makes a good awards party?

Awards - Fundamental to the evening

Good music - Live band, DJ, electric atmosphere to get the feet moving.

Good food - Traditional British cuisine with a modern twist.

Good venue - Wonderful pub venue allowing people to choose between the dance floor or the relaxing lounge where they can watch the show from the luxury of their leather couch.

Pace - Relaxed with the emphasis on enjoying the evening.

British Style - ‘Pimms O'clock’ Martini (shaken not stirred) or a ship full sail (cockney rhyming slang for ‘Pint of Ale’) from a traditional beer barrel.

Late Bar - open into the early hours (perhaps as late/early as 02:00!).

Easy way home - 200 meters to Novotel and Ibis, just over 1,000 meters to Premier and Ramada, 60 meters from the DLR.

Theme - London Characters - so many to choose from...Florence Nightingale, Ali G, James Bond, Winston Churchill, a Buckingham Palace Guardsman, David Beckham, Boudica, Dick Whittington or his cat, Mary Poppins or a Cockney chimney sweep, Ken Livingstone, a London Bobbie, the baker who started the Great Fire of London, Father Thames, Sherlock Homes or Dr Watson, Charlie Chaplin, Fagin, Jack the Ripper, Henry VIII (or any other monarch) or any one from or linked to London.  Full costumes are welcome but if you just have one item that will do - be it a fake cigar, an item from the Crown Jewels, a deerstalker, a cane or whatever.

Conclusion - an event not to be missed.
