General Information:

London has the world's first and the world's largest underground railway network.  Then there are the red buses and thousands upon thousands of black taxis and, just introduced to London, cycles (unfortunately these are not yet available to visitors).

All WARRiors are recommended to get a "Transport for London" "Oyster Card".  These are a blue plastic card you can use instead of paper tickets. You load it with credit which you use up as you travel.  As you travel they generally work out cheaper and are certainly more convenient that paying for each bus or train ticket separately. A good place to pick up an Oyster card is the  Underground Station Information Centre at Heathrow Airport Terminal 123.

You can hire a car and drive around London but this is NOT recommended for journeys to, from or within the centre - such journeys will often be slower than with public transport and parking can be a major problem.  Additionally the centre of London is covered by a Congestion Charge Zone where extra charges apply during office hours.
